MY DAD DIED TODAY
My Daddy died today, We knew.
His body was in balance, an undependable equilibrium.
I knew. He knew.
He was 77 years and 2 days.
He didn't want to go.
I didn't want him to go.
The time came, we didn't know.
The ambulance came.
The helicopter came.
The doctors came.
I wanted to let him go.
That was not an option.
He went to surgery.
We waited.
He came out.
Mom wiped a tear from his eye.
He never spoke again.
